Tender for the formation of Israeli Life Sciences Funds

About:
The goal of the Funds is to promote and accelerate the growth of
the Israeli biotechnology industry.
The Funds will be structured as standard venture capital funds.
The capital commitments to the Funds will be made by the Israeli
government together with the Israeli and foreign private sector.
Each Fund will be managed by a dedicated professional management team
which will be chosen by the Israeli government through a tender process.
The Tender will be open to local and foreign management teams with proven
track records in managing biotechnology investments. The government will
commit USD 80 M to the Funds in the aggregate as a limited partner of each
Fund. The government intends that its commitments will be matched by
commitments of private sector investors amounting to a multiple of the
government's commitments. The government will share a portion of its
profits arising from its investment in each Fund with the other limited
partners; in addition, the government will provide certain "downside"
protections to the other limited partners of each Fund.
Investors & VC fund managers are invited for a special conference about
the establishment of these funds, with Mr. Haim Shani, Direct General,
Ministry of Finance and Dr. Eli Ofer, Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor.
